One cylinder (the right side) refuses to idle under no choke, idles okay under full and half choke, but will stall out unless you give it some throttle w/ no choke.

It is very likely the receiver in the hub thats bent from misalignment, this will have to be fixed to make the speedo cable spin. A quick check is to remove the cable from the hub and spin with your fingers while looking for movement on the speedo needle. If it moves, your problem is in the hub. The only maintenance required on the shaft is the rear spline lubrication with moly60 lube, easy to do and not often.
